Tribunj with Kids: A Family Guide from Your Hosts

Tribunj is small, safe and relaxed, which makes it one of the best places in Dalmatia for a holiday with children. Everything is close, the pace is slow, and Tribunj is smaller and more peaceful than neighbouring Vodice, which is livelier with more nightlife. Here’s how we’d spend a family week here. The BeachesBristak beach is just 700 m from Summer House Le Vito, close enough for little legs. The main beach sits just past the marina and has a fast-food spot, a coffee bar, an aquapark and jet ski rental. Pack water shoes, because it’s a pebble beach with some bigger rocks. Zamalin is 1.2 km away at the other end of the village. It’s a mix of concrete and pebble, which makes it easy to get in and out of the water. (mortensmalby)

Sovlje is 2 km away and the bay has sandy and pebbly beaches with clear water for swimming and snorkelling. Bring a mask for the kids. You can walk there along the coastal path, or combine it with lunch at Plavi Val. (splendid)

Meet the Donkeys

Donkeys are Tribunj’s symbol, and kids love them. A donkey statue in the pedestrian zone commemorates an old legend and is one of the most photographed spots in town, so it’s the perfect family photo. (tripadvisor)If you’re here in summer, don’t miss the donkey race. It’s held each August on the mainland part of town and draws thousands of spectators. It’s loud and funny, and children remember it for years. (splendid)

A Little Adventure in the Old TownThe historic part of the village, with its very narrow streets, sits on an islet connected to the mainland by a stone bridge. Children can explore the stone alleys, watch the fishing boats come in, and finish with an ice cream on the waterfront. (tribunj)For older kids, the short walk up the hill to the church of St. Nicholas is a nice mini hike with a great view over the village and islands. (tripadvisor)

Day Trips Krka National Park: waterfalls, wooden walkways and shady paths, about half an hour’s drive away. Go early in the morning in summer.

Vodice: only 2-3 km away and easy to reach by walk, bike or a short bus or taxi ride. It has a long promenade and more for kids to do in the evenings. (mortensmalby)

Boat trip to the islands: a day on a boat around the Šibenik archipelago is an adventure for any child. Why Families Love Summer House Le VitoThe house sleeps up to 10, so it works well for two families or a family with grandparents. The private courtyard means kids can play outside while parents relax on the covered terrace. The outdoor kitchen makes dinner at home easy after a long beach day. With two parking spaces, you won’t have to fight for a spot with a car full of beach gear.
